Feeling the Heat of Need For Speed Heat

Need For Speed Heat has been out for quite some time now and while I did play through most of it when it first came out I didn't complete it. Recently, I decided to start playing again and am having a blast going through almost everything with my cousin.

Surprisingly, many people are still playing this online which means that it's not that difficult to get a multiplier race started. One of the coolest thing about the game is the car customizations. While the racing itself is great I spent just as many hours tweaking the visuals of my vehicles than I did actually racing them. Driving around town, looking at what other people have built, is also pretty dam awesome.

Cops chases are pretty brutal in this game especially in the beginning. As your vehicle power increases, it becomes a bit easier but never to the point where you feel you can get through them in a breeze. Once you hit that level 5 wanted level, and helicopters are hovering over your head, it's near impossible to get out of it all. The issue here, compared to other games like Need For Speed Rivals, is that you're not equip to deal with the influx of cops. Sure, you can equip some items that will disrupt things a bit but it's not reliable.

The structure of the game is a bit weird. It's very difficult to do drift, off-road, level 5 cop missions, jump/speed/drift mini event in the beginning as your cars are not powerful enough to do these things. It seems to have been designed in such a way to be end-game content rather than something you go through alongside the story missions.
While this is fine in itself, the issue is that the events become available to you long before you can actually do them. You can try all you want at winning off-road events but chances are you won't be able to until you reach 350+ - especially if you, like me, play at the hardest difficulty. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a drawback just something to keep in mind.

Have you played the game yet? It's available on Gamepass and you should definitely try it.
