Give Recyclable Material A Chance

In Canada, there's currently plans to ban single use plastic. The main reason why people prefer single use plastic is because of it's lower cost over every other options available.
Why is it cheaper to use single use plastic than recyclable alternatives? The logical answer would be that it cost more to produce recyclable material than it does with the single use - at least for now.

It always cost more at the beginning of doing something than it does over time for the simple reason that when we start we have to figure out everything from scratch. Once the process is in place, all we have to do is improve it.

I believe that once recyclable material becomes mainstream, we will find ways to produce it more efficiently and the obvious choice over single use plastic.
