We Need better A.I./Bots in Games

While I haven't played the F.E.A.R series extensively I vividly remember these games to have up-par enemy A.I.. Those enemies would hunt you down no matter where you were at and have the necessary animation to support their seemingly higher than typical intellect. You want to hide under a box? The enemy would crouch to shoot you, throw grenades under it or do what ever it took to kill you.

Unreal Tournament 2k4 also stands out, to me, from a bot perspective.

The original F.E.A.R. game came out in 2005 and I don't feel like other companies have made much progress when it comes to their A.I. in games. Why is it that the latest call of duty game is basically just you running down a corridor while having a horde of enemies shooting at you with the harder difficulty only making them harder to kill or them being more precise with their aiming. Sure, it still does have its charm but why aren't compagnies challenging themselves to do something better here?
Call of Duty has introduced bots in their Multiplayer map offering, which make sense, but they basically just run around and shoot the same as what they would do in the single player campaign. Here, of all places, would of been a good place to work on the A.I. in order to make them feel a bit more unpredictable.

In 2022, we have games with amazing sound, amazing graphics, tight controls ... but bots are still as dumb as ever. Maybe the reason for this is because not enough people are complaining about it or maybe they need to keep bots stupid because making them smarter would make the game more difficult to beat... whatever the case may be I feel it's high time that we see bots that can do more than simply run and shoot at the player.
